- The FCC earlier forced its Canadian counterpart, the CRTC, to impose restrictions on CJAM because it claimed the signal was interfering with WUOM-FM.

- CJAM-FM risks losing licence
Windsor Star By Ted Shaw, The Windsor StarFebruary 10, 2009
After 25 years on the air, University of Windsor's community radio station CJAM-FM (91.5) could lose its licence in an international turf war between the U.S. and Canada.
Adam Fox, CJAM manager, said there is a real concern the station's FM frequency will be taken over by a commercial radio station in Michigan.
"The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has already granted a licence to a station in China Township," said Fox.
It is located in St. Clair County, north of Port Huron, but its signal power would reach the Detroit-Windsor market and the frequency would no longer be available to CJAM. http://www.windsorstar.com/Entertainment/CJAM+risks+losing+licence/1274166/story.html a suivre ou non... - CJAM moving to 99.1
BY FRANCES WILLICK, THE WINDSOR STARSEPTEMBER 24, 2009
WINDSOR, Ont. — At midnight on Oct. 5, Windsor's only campus-community radio station will intentionally inflict the wound that broadcasters most fear: dead air.
With a single swift stroke, CJAM will not only pull the plug on a long chapter in the station's history; it will downright sever the cord.
"We're turning the lights out on 91.5. You're going to hear static, silence," said CJAM station manager Adam Fox.
Despite existing in one of the most congested radio markets in North America, the University of Windsor-based radio station has lived comfortably in its home on the FM dial for 26 years. That security was shattered about a year ago when another local station applied for CJAM's frequency at 91.5 FM. While that application was eventually retracted, it shook the CJAM community to its foundations.
"It was like doom. We thought they're going to steal our frequency and we won't be able to do our shows," said longtime programmer Marc Cazabon.
CJAM has never enjoyed what regulators call "protected status," which prevents other broadcasters from muscling their way onto another station's tiny sliver of precious bandwidth. http://www.windsorstar.com/news/CJAM+ready+move+dial/2027335/story.html

| Dommage que cette affaire n'ait pas occupé plus longtemps le CRTC.

J'ai suivi de loin mais il semble que le CTRC a acheter la paix en les faisant déménager de fréquence plutôt que de "fighter" le FCC...
